Before health problems and an injury left Gwen unable to work and provide for herself, she was a very self-sufficient person who worked two jobs to make ends meet. After her injury, Gwen was evicted from her residence and unable to obtain financial assistance to support herself. She eventually found herself living in a run-down apartment where she feared for her safety. The Department of Social Services referred Gwen to People Incorporated, where she was able to participate in the Homeless Intervention Program. Gwen received a Section 8 Voucher to provide for housing and now lives in a safe and warm residence.
