April 28, 2011
Abingdon, Virginia –
People Incorporated was recently selected as one of the Best NonProfit Organizations to Work for 2011. The awards program was created in 2010 and is a project of The NonProfit Times and Best Companies Group.

This nationwide survey and awards program was designed to identify, recognize and honor the best places of employment in the nonprofit industry, benefiting the industry's economy, its workforce and businesses. The Best NonProfit Organizations to Work for 2011 list is made up of 50 organizations.

In a message to the staff, Rob Goldsmith, People Incorporated President & CEO said, “as the only Community Action Agency to make the list, we would not have been able to achieve this level of success without your dedication and engaged commitment to our mission and to the families, individuals and communities we serve. Our workplace is a reflection of all of us, and I thank each of you for the work that you do each day to provide opportunities for people to reach their goals in order to enhance their lives, their families and their communities.”
Organizations from across the nation entered the two-part process to determine the Best NonProfit Organizations to Work for. The first part consisted of evaluating each nominated organization's workplace policies, practices, and demographics. This part of the process was worth approximately 25% of the total evaluation. The second part consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience. This part of the process was worth approximately 75% of the total evaluation. The combined scores determined the top organizations and the final ranking. People Incorporated was profiled and ranked in The NonProfit Times April 1, 2011 issue.
