Substitutes

People Incorporated of Virginia needs substitute staff to work on an as needed basis within its Child and Family Development Department. We need substitutes for the following positions: Teacher Assistant, Driver, and Cook. These positions will involve working within the organization’s Head Start and Early Head Start centers. Substitute positions have varying education and experience requirements. Required training and background checks will be provided. Applicant must have reliable transportation and a good driving record. Partnership Development VISTA

People Incorporated began in 1964 as one of the nation’s first community action agencies. People Incorporated now serves 16 counties and cities across with state with almost 30 programs, striving to fulfill the mission “to provide opportunities for economically disadvantaged people to reach their goals in order to enhance their lives, their families, and their communities.” The organization seeks a full-time VISTA volunteer to help carry out this mission by building partnerships and a referral system so clients can access more resources and see better outcomes for their families. The VISTA will help People Incorporated of Virginia to grow partnerships with others services providers with the goal of implementing a robust external referral system. The volunteer will work closely with People Incorporated staff to develop external referral data and capabilities in the agency-wide client tracking system. Parent Educator

People Incorporated of Virginia is seeking an individual to provide in-home services to families who participate in the Comprehensive Health Investment Project (CHIP) within the City of Bristol and surrounding Washington County. The eligible applicant must have a minimum of an AA degree and be knowledgeable about assisting families with young children (birth to five) and prenatal mothers. One year’s supervised experience working with young children and/or parents is preferred. This position requires the ability to maintain detailed and accurate client files and the submission of accurate reporting information. The applicant must have reliable transportation, an excellent driving record, and be willing to travel daily within the program’s service area. CASA Coordinator

People Incorporated of Virginia is seeking a qualified individual to develop, implement and manage the Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) program in Culpeper, Virginia. The qualified applicant should have a minimum of a four year degree in social work, psychology, or a related field of study. Two years of experience working with victims of child abuse or neglect is preferred or related experience will be considered. This position requires the ability to recruit, train and supervise volunteers. A strong knowledge of local resources to support children and families is needed; as are: strong verbal and written communication skills. The qualified applicant must be able to maintain accurate records that include data entry. A valid driver’s license is required. Agency applications received by January 18, 2019 will be considered. Site Supervisor

People Incorporated of Virginia is now accepting application for a site supervisor at the Dickenson County Child Care Center. Responsibilities include oversight of daily Early Head Start/Childcare operations, the developmental progress of children in accordance with Head Start Performance Standards and Virginia State Licensing Standards, and supervision of on-site teaching and support staff. Applicant must have a Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education or Associate in Early Childhood and be willing to acquire a Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood within a specified time. Applicant must have at least one year experience working with appropriate aged children and supervising education staff in a multi-classroom center, reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, a good driving record, and the ability to communicate effectively. Early Head Start Home Visitor

People Incorporated of Virginia is now accepting applications for a home visitor for Buchanan County. Position will be full time and involves providing direct educational and comprehensive services to families in a home-visiting setting. This position requires a reliable individual who is knowledgeable about pregnancy, childbirth, infant/toddler/preschool development and adult learning. Individual will need to provide comprehensive social services and will work with other staff members and agency components to provide direct and referral services to families. Qualifications include: a minimum of a home-based CDA (Child Development Associate) credential or comparable credential, or equivalent coursework as part of an associate or bachelor’s degree. Experience working with families from various socio-economic backgrounds, reliable transportation, an excellent driving record, excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to enter data in a computer data base are required.
